Storytime Chapt 1

Sweetheart hisses, “Well maybe you should just leave then!” her tail lifted in anger as she dashed out from the mage room. A small hiss erupts from her mouth as she tries to head down to the courtyard.

“Why the rush?” A soft voice stops Sweetheart. She looks over her back to see Alice, the bubbly little chimera.  Alice hops off from the small showcase table and lands beside her,” what seems to be the matter? You look upset.”  She tilts her head, her whiskers swayed to the side.

“Oh nothing important Alice, I am just going to go out for a walk.”

Alice giggles and sticks her tongue out. “Looked more like a run from the speed you were going at.” She walked around Sweetheart. “So is something up? Your fur is all ruffled, and your tail up high. Your whiskers aren’t straight and, Oh! Your pupils are slit. Did something happen that you couldn’t control?  You’d usually greet others with a purr but you hadn’t with me. Is there something going on?” She purred, rubbing up against Sweetheart.

Sweetheart’s ears laid back,” no need to say it aloud Alice!” she hisses. “And you needn’t be unhappy, what’s wrong?” Alice asks again.

Sweethearts ears flickered, before she looked down, “Just an argument with my brother, he’s too busy staying in that mage’s room to even bother doing the most important things, and enjoying life! Instead he stays in there to watch all sick people come and go, over and over again!” her tail swayed to the side. “We came here to get his leg fixed, not for him to want to become a healer with the others! I could really care less anymore if he’s sick! At this point, he could just be faking his sickness to stay in the mage room! He doesn’t want to leave!” she stomps her paws on the floor. “It’s not fair god damnit! It’s not fair!!” Sweetheart hissed to Alice.

Alice’s ears flickered, unsure and annoyed. “Well just because he doesn’t—“Sweetheart bares her teeth at her, snapping a retort. “Just because he doesn’t want to be with me, just because he doesn’t want this, just because he doesn’t want that, I don’t care what he wants! He’s my brother! He stays with me!! And whether he likes it or not, he’s going to enjoy his life!!” She snapped.

Alice’s ears laid back in fear; she submissively lays on her stomach and bowed her head. “J-Just because he does something you don’t like him, or want him doing…d-doesn’t mean you should scream and yell at him over it…”

Sweetheart bears down on her, her tail swaying. “He promised to make me happy! He promised it! He broke it and lied to me! He lied and wants to do what’ll separate us the most!” she glares down at the floor, “It’s just not fair…he’s being selfish!”

Alice laid on the ground, quiet for a moment, before working up the courage to speak. “H-He wants to be happy, aren’t you the selfish one, to want him to change? Do you think he wants to change into what you want him to? He wanted you to be happy…but don’t you want him to be happy as well?” She paused, before continuing. “He broke his leg, we don’t know if we can fix it. Blaming him over something he can no longer control, doesn’t mean he intentionally broke his promise…you’re being the selfish one for wanting him to do objectives, that, in his current condition, would be suicide.” Her tail fin swayed as she looked up. “Look, I know being a sibling to someone who’s ill is hard. You can’t demand more out of them for your own happiness… Wicked is mentally strange, I don’t know what’s wrong with her, since none of the mage Pokémon will tell me. However, I’m not going to expect her to do something she isn’t able to do. Neither will I expect her to be unable to do anything. Even if she hasn’t found her passion, I trust that she’ll eventually find a mate, and settle down. Raven chooses to help, because he’s injured. Clucky has enough work, and the others are busy as well….”

Sweetheart blinked, watching her quietly. She slowly gets off Alice, her tail swayed to her side, “I just wanted my old brother back…that’s all….”

Alice slowly gets up, going to her side, and nuzzles Sweetheart’s cheek, “I know you do, but it’s best to accept the change, instead of avoid it.” Alice stands up, “So, I can show you my sister if that will make you feel any better. I can even teach you how to help your brother get along and maybe walk and talk more properly!” She faintly smiled, running ahead.
